Great places to visit with the kids. Do some web surfing before you go to a
destination to be well prepared.
Some suggestions:
Lots of museums all over the world are hands-on and child-friendly. The more
buttons there are to push, the better. Transport and train museums are always
big hit. Castles, forts, planetariums, Madame Tussuards and museums dedicated
to children's toys are all available in many cities and towns in most
countries.
Check football and sports clubs' website for
football and other matches happening in the city or town when you are planning visit.
A zoo or wildlife park safari is a
wonderful visit for kids, and having your own wheels is a big plus.
Wherever light rail happens you will always
see lots of happy kids. The same goes with buskers, entertainers
and feeding the pigeons; kids love them.
When travelling in your motor home or campervan keeping the kids
happy and involved is the grand plan. Playing “spotto” as you drive
through the landscape will keep everyone happy for hours. The rules
work on three year olds! You say, I see something beginning with “T”
and the kids will answer “tree” “tulip” “theatre” “trout” “telephone box”
“turtle” depending on where you are. You get the message, I feel sure.
Their own lego, doll, games and books must come along. A family holiday
in a camper or mobile home gives the kids lots of time without TV. A good
crossword, suduku, card games or small picture puzzle will be a handy part
of your tool kit for the kids.
Hiking in beautiful and interesting places where there are all levels of
trails is another must. Buy some disposable cameras for the kids and get them to
keep a journal. You may have a budding photo journalist on your hands. You will
be able to really get off the beaten track with the kids in the motor home and
camper van and keep them busy. Just lighting the camp fire will do it in most
cases.
